Happily Ever Becoming

This cover story began with the thought… what if we celebrated a story that was still in the making? Many times in telling the story of gardens we are waiting for the completed picture, the composed and nicely swept masterpiece. This story takes an in-depth look at the beauty in the process of restoring the historic Kaul Wildflower Garden at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, while also pushing the boundaries of what a native plant garden can be in the 21st century. This is the nitty-gritty, boots on the ground, pick axes in hand work that in its own way is actually quite beautiful.
